2,7 & 11 please ! - Braise et Houblon Laval

Braise et Houblon is a bar/restaurant/brewery in Laval where they serve craft beers only. Also, their beer menu changes quite often, so there's always something new and exciting to try ! So yeah, cool place!

We decided to start off with two of the Braise et Houblon own brews. Being a fan of dark beers I got the Stout à l'Avoine and Marc got La requin, an Irish Ale.

The Stout does smell and taste of oats. There's a bit of a bitter aftertaste to it, but nothing unpleasant.   I expected a creamier beer for some reason... which is really not the case. Overall, the taste is not really strong with some herbal undertones. It's not their best beer, it's really watery. So this one would be a miss for me, but on the other hand I really enjoyed their Faussbock (which was not available yesterday!)

La Requin is on the right. Marc didn't really enjoy it either. It's got a reddish/copper color and basically tasted like herbs and not much else. Also too watery...

For dessert, we shared L'Herbe à détourne from Dieu du Ciel!
It's an Abbey Tripel (10.2%) and is delicious. It's all there is to know! The extra special taste comes from a type of hop called Citra from the USA which gives a fruity flavor to the beer. The alcohol taste, even if present, is well balanced in that one. So this badboy is packed with flavors : It's citrus-y but sweet and earthy. Overall yum-yummy and complex.
Bye Bye Braise et Houblon,

see you really soon. we'll miss you. Even if this time was more a miss than a hit, we will be back. The beer selection wasn't the best we have experienced (at least, to our taste-buds!) this time around, but that's part of the fun of right?
